Christmas Spirit

I love Christmas! I have been kind of a scrooge lately, it just seems to soon to be Christmas and it has been hard for me to come to the realization that it's coming whether I like it or not. My mom always puts up at least 1 Christmas tree, sometimes 2 on Thanksgiving and of course Clara has taken it upon her to undecorate it and has even unfortunately broken a few ornaments. Even with having the Christmas tree up, it still didn't feel like Christmas. I've been listening to Christmas music, and still, didn't feel like Christmas. Our little family has a tradition to go chop down our very own real tree and as we did that in 80 degree weather and had Clara sit on Santa's lap, it still didn't feel like Christmas. We even went to see the Nutcracker Ballet and still, not Christmas!
It wasn't till today that I had the overwhelming feeling that it is Christmas time! At church today we sang a bunch of Christmas songs and heard beautiful testimonies of the Christmas spirit and then listening to the Christmas Devotional the spirit of Christmas has really touched my heart. I listened intently to the words of the Christmas songs and they touched me deep! I truly love this time of year and I am so thankful for the spirit of peace, hope, and love that is just magnified this time of year. I hope everyone truly reflects on the real spirit of Christmas, that it isn't what we give or what we get, but what is in our hearts as we do so. That we remember it's more than presents and things but it's about family, friends, and the wonderful gift of life that Jesus Christ has given to us all. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas time!

K, I've already talked to you about my feelings on Christmas this year. hopefully it'll hit me soon too. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE that picure! Love her outfit. And we've got the same thing going on. My mom has a bunch of breakable ornaments. Gotta love one year olds!

I know what you mean! I usually put up my tree in mid-November, but this year I was not in the mood for Christmas until I opened my birthday present from my SIL. It was the Merry Bakers set from Hallmark that I posted a pic of on my blog. After that, all I could think about was getting home and decking the halls!

Thanks for this great post! It is so important to remember that this holiday is all about Christ's birth - it makes the season so much more meaningful. I also love this picture. We are trying so hard to teach Ashlyn to not touch the ornaments, but it isn't quite working . . .
